UFC Ranking System... or lack there of

Before I get into this article... I am in no way disrespecting the UFC, it is a great organization that is finally starting to reap the benefits after a ten year period of ups and downs. It has some of the most talented mixed martial artists that the world has to offer... However, it lacks depth as far as rankings are concerned. NOW, I know it is ran this way so that they can give the fights that the fans want to see (which brings in ticket sales!)

However, is this really fair to the guys who are giving their blood, sweat, and tears inside the octagon? Is the way that the lack of a ranking system fair to the guys like Kenny Florian who win six fights in a row, only to receive the POSSIBILITY of getting a title shot? I mean lets face it, the term NUMBER 1 CONTENDER doesn't really mean much when the number 7 and number 13 guys are the ones getting the title shots.

I can understand that if the number one contender gets hurt before the title fight, you gotta bring in a last minute replacement, in those situations its respectable to go down the ladder until you can get someone back in to fight the champ. But to downright dog the number 1 contenders, just to build up hype around the champs, is just flat out wrong.

HAHAHAHAHAHA....

This is sick and very wrong... but its just too damn funny!

JFK II: The Bush Connection?

So I was recently scoping around some videos, looking for some stuff on JFK, and I happened to come across this gem. This is an "in depth conspiracy theory" on how George Bush Sr. was apart of the JFK assassination... Now it is true that George Bush Sr. was in the CIA, but I mean do you honestly think that the Bush's could possibly pull something like that off? Check out part 1 below... PET PEEVE...

I don't have very many pet peeves, I have always been one of those people who just accepted people for who/what they are and moved on... but the one thing I hate in this world, is the person that points the finger at someone that makes a mistake, without a valid argument...

FOR EXAMPLE... A 20 year old gets off of a twelve hour day at work, he is tired, he is very very hungry due to the fact that he has not ate anything for the past twelve hours, also keep in mind that he is a telemarketer (so he gets yelled at on the phone for twelve hours a day.) He tells his friend that after work he will stop by....

lets rewind... THE NIGHT BEFORE HE LOANS HIS FRIEND $50 FOR GROCERIES.... this is going to play out in just a moment.

So the 20 year old goes to his friends house with his burrito in hand... he doesn't know that the ENTIRE family is over at the friends house. So the 20 year old sits on the couch and tries to eat his burrito, but is bombarded by 3 kids who claim to be hungry. The 20 year old tries to calmly tell the kids to go eat the other food (that is suppose to be in the fridge), but the grandmother of the 3 kids keeps on egging the kids on... The 20 year old tells the kids that he bought them pizza last night... The grandmother says "That doesn't help them today now does it?"

The 20 year old gives the three kids a piece of the burrito... after the fact he shows an annoyed look on his face. The grand mother begins to yell at the 20 year old and gives him a lecture on being selfish... the 20 year old says "Well I didn't know you guys were going to be here." She replies "YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED!?"

AND THAT IS PET PEEVE #1!!!!! It is so easy to tell someone "Well you should have....?" "Well why didn't you....?" To me you can do this with anything! Its not even an argument, its just an easy way to guilt people! It's just a twisted mind fuck!

Pet Peeve #2... People that blame the problem on an innocent bystander (Someone outside the principle factors in the situation!)... I could have been shitty and said "Why hasn't the child been feed in the first place." If the grand mother really cared about whether that child had eatin or not... SHE WOULD HAVE FEED THE DAMN KIDS and not blame someone for coming in with food for themselves.

Pet Peeve #3... GIVING AND TAKING are two very different things!!! Teaching kids that taking from people or bullying/guilting them into giving to you is WRONG!!! This is why we have kids in prison!!!! Make kids work for things in life...! I don't mean going out and getting a job, I mean maybe saying the word PLEASE!!!

These are three universal things that every STUPID/CONFRONTATIONAL/IGNORANT person on this planet does, I can name 500 stories just like it! Tell me about some of your pet peeves.

UFC 94: Penn vs. St. Pierre 2!

The UFC finally brings a champion vs. champion match up! At UFC 94 BJ Penn (UFC 155lb Champion) will take on George "Rush" St. Pierre (UFC 170lb champion) in the much anticipated rematch to their 2006 battle (in which GSP won.) This fight has the potential to be fight of the year, both fighters are very well rounded, both fighters are in their prime, and both are known for bring fast paced explosive action inside the cage!

Ok, so I watch a lot of UFC... I started watching the new season of The Ultimate Fighter and uh... What is Junie still doing there? I mean incident #1 leads to him potentially injuring 2-3 of the rule abiding guys in the house. He attempted to get everyone in the house to hit him (which would disqualify them from the competition.) Check it out!

Now, Dana White gives this kid a second chance, due to the 

fact that he thinks that it was the alcohol's fault... So, now we 

go into incident number 2... Junie is 100% sober!

Dude is too damn lucky!

I couldn't find video of the other incidents, but there are A LOT of them. Things

such as him throwing temper tantrums (that of a five year old), him telling the

other team about his teammates game plans, and other things of that nature.

It's obvious that this guy brings in too many ratings to kick him off the show...

I hope that either Ephrain or Filipe kick his ass!

Interview with Alejandro (Alex) Vega

There are a lot of independent film makers out there, but none of them bring the same potential that Alejandro Vega brings to the table. He is an awesome director, with a load of talent. He is a U.S. Navy Veteran, born in Arizona, but raised in Nogales... read the interview below to get to know more about him.

Rick: Where are you from?

Alex: Born In Tucson AZ, Raised in Nogales Mexico, Live in Mesa AZ

Rick: How did you get involved with the US Navy?

Alex: I was sitting around in school when the recruiters came in and I was like "work on school or go watch video about NAVY" the video won.

Rick: What got you into film making?

Alex: It is the one thing in my life that no matter how far back i remember I always wanted to be a part of, allways wanted to know how they made special effects, how they got films made, etc.

Rick: What got you into acting?

Alex: My sister was in a play back when she was in college and the director invited me to join in the next play, I got cut from the play but I still wanted to act.

Rick: What awards have you won for film making?

Alex: We got second place in a 72 hour film challenge for Conpiratree Theory and placed top 20 in a 24 hour film challenge for Ray of Light.

Rick: What are some projects that you have done?

Alex: I have done, so far 8 films, (all or nothing, Trust, I AM Sorry, just to name a few) I have acted in a play (Los Illegals), I was in a commercial for indiana farm bureau insurance, and i have directed/edited a music video for a local band called Deep Red Velvet.

Rick: What are your plans for the future?

Alex: Feature length films.

Rick: Which director do you look upto the most?

Alex: (Gun to my head) I would have to say Robert Rodriguez, he makes films he enjoys with out really caring about the money making potential.

Rick: If you could cast one actor and one actress (ANYONE IN THE WORLD) who would it be?

Alex: Actor, its a tie between Al Pacino and Robert Deniro, either of them, if I had to choose provably Al Pacino, Actress, Meryl Streep.

Rick: What is your favorite part of the film making process?

Alex: Directing, when I am standing behind the camera and I see an action or hear a line and know that the film will work just like I planned.

Rick: What is your least favorite part of the film making process?

Alex: There is no such thing, I love all aspects of it.

Rick: What are some of your future projects?

Alex: We have an idea for a feature length film that we are working on, along with more entries to the local and national film festivals

Rick: What do you like to do outside of film making?

Alex: Film Producing :-D

Interview with Film Maker Mark Brown

Just earlier, I had the privilege of speaking with rising film maker Mark Brown about his upcoming projects. Mark Brown is a Detroit based film maker that is best known for his web-based series (in which he plans on turning into a feature length film) Mark of the Wolf. 

THE INTERVIEW

(FYI we spoke on aim!)

Rick: So how long have you been filmmaking for?

Mark: ah I didn't really get seriously into this till about a couple years ago, as far as writing and doing things for my movie goes,I did dabble a bit into it while I was taking classes in college. So now, I'm learning on the fly, haha

Rick: hahahaha

Rick: If you had to compare yourself to one famous director, which director would it be?

Mark: hmm, good question.

Rick: haha, who would it be?

Mark: Best example I'd go with is probably Ron Howard, cause he's more involved with the process, plus he's doing other things besides directing, and that's what I want to go with as well.

Rick: cool so I take it your a Happy Days fan?

Mark: Haha yeah

Rick (8:09:43 PM): Which character was your favorite!?

Mark (8:10:15 PM): probably Richie, cause he was a writer like me

Rick (8:10:33 PM): cool so not much for the Fonz huh?

Mark (8:10:47 PM): haha of course you gotta like the Fonz

Rick (8:11:20 PM): ok so... what are some of the future projects you got in the mix?

Mark (8:14:00 PM): well one thing me and a friend of mine is planning is a short drama ab

out a man who kidnaps his former friend over an incident that happened to him a few years back.

Rick (8:15:22 PM): when are you going to be shooting that?

Mark (8:15:46 PM): sometime in December, depending on my friend's schedule

Rick (8:16:11 PM): ok awesome... So what's the word on Mark of the Wolf?

Mark (8:16:42 PM): Well, I'm writing scripts for the webseries, at least two so far, and still going over things with the full length movie script

Mark (8:17:09 PM): Hopefully things will start up with the movie at the end of the year or early next

Rick (8:17:28 PM): Awesome!

Rick (8:17:55 PM): Any known actors going to be in it?

Mark (8:18:23 PM): nah, just local people around the area

Rick (8:18:35 PM): awesome...

Rick (8:18:45 PM): So who are you going to focus the story around?

Mark (8:20:11 PM): well the story will focus on Sam, a young guy just starting in college, who discovers that he is cursed with lycanthropy on his 18th birthday.

Rick (8:20:24 PM): awesome

Mark (8:20:28 PM): From there, the story just takes off from there with some twists and turns

Rick (8:21:27 PM): cool

Rick (8:23:28 PM): So how did you like the fights?

Mark (8:23:45 PM): it was good man

Rick (8:24:25 PM): cool were you happy about Brock winning the belt?

Mark (8:25:05 PM): yep

MOVIE OF THE WEEK: Role Models

It wasn't hard to choose this weeks MOTW... Role Models is this years Superbad! It follows two men (Sean William Scott and Paul Rudd) who work as spokesman for the energy drink company "Minotaur". After the two get into trouble, they find themselves having to do 150 hours of Community Service by spending time with two misfits.

The movie is packed with tons of laughs and an ending that you would have never seen coming (judging by the trailer!)
